In introducing President Barack Obama at an event Thursday on the Jersey Shore, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said that he won’t let “anything or anyone” to hold him back as he continues to help the state recover from Hurricane Sandy.
“And so while I’m thrilled at the progress we’ve made in the last seven months — and we had a chance to show the President some of that earlier today up in Point Pleasant — I also made sure that he understood there’s still a lot more work to do for the people of our state and I am not going to let anything or anyone get in between me and the completion of the mission to restore and recover our great state,” Christie said, drawing applause.
After taking heat from fellow Republicans last fall for his post-Sandy embrace of Obama, Christie has consistently said that he has no regrets for his approach to the storm’s recovery.
