MSNBC host and native Pennsylvanian Chris Matthews was asked Tuesday night to break down his home state’s gubernatorial race, which had just been called for the Democrat Tom Wolf.
“This guy came out of nowhere,” Matthews said of Wolf. “This guy beat Allyson Schwartz, who was a strong candidate in the primaries.”
And what exactly went wrong for Schwartz, the congresswoman who at one time was considered a favorite to claim her party’s nomination and go on to become the state’s first female governor?
Matthews touched on a host of shortcomings before singling out what he said was perhaps Schwartz’s biggest campaign failure.
“You know what she didn’t do right?” Matthews asked. “A very attractive candidate if she had gone on television. She never did any television.”
