Rep. Chris Gibson (R-NY) on Sunday suggested that he might not support Donald Trump if he wins the Republican presidential nomination.

During an interview with AM970’s “Effective Radio with Bill Samuels,” host Bill Samuels asked Gibson if he would support Trump as the GOP nominee.

“Look, I mean, he is running for President of the United States under this banner, the party that I’m in,” Gibson responded. “I have told people before I’m prayerful that you will see some kind of evolution in this guy.”

Samuels noted that Gibson seemed to be hesitating, prompting Gibson to offer his concerns about Trump.

“Here’s the issue: I have concerns about giving this guy an army. As somebody who served for 29 years, I have concerns given what I’ve heard today about his temperament and the judgement that he has,” the congressman said.

Gibson added that he understands what’s “driving” the support for Trump.

“I saw this coming,” he said.

Despite numerous attempts to take Trump down a couple pegs, numerous Republican presidential candidates and lawmakers have said they would support Trump if he wins the Republican presidential nomination.
