New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) paid a visit to “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday to join the host in “slow-jamming” the news.

Fallon introduced the segment by touching on the special U.S. Senate election in New Jersey that was recently scheduled by Christie.

“You know, I was going to make a joke about this story but I don’t think it needs a joke. I think it needs to be slow-jammed,” Fallon said in reference to one of the show’s most popular segments.

The outspoken governor soon joined Fallon on stage.

“Hi, I’m Chris Christie, governor of the great state of New Jersey, and I too would like to slow jam the news,” he said.

Christie isn’t the first politician to perform such a duet with Fallon. President Barack Obama assisted Fallon on the same segment last year during a broadcast on the campus of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. The New Jersey governor, of course, is no stranger to the late night circuit, appearing on the “Late Show with David Letterman” in February.
