In his first television interview that aired Tuesday night, the man who allegedly had his vehicle carjacked by the suspected Boston Marathon bombers opened up about the harrowing night.

Calling himself “Danny,” the 26-year-old Chinese immigrant told CBS News that he had pulled his Mercedes SUV over to the side of the road to send a text message. When a man — allegedly the late bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev — pulled a gun on Danny, he thought he was being robbed. Danny said Tsarnaev, whose younger brother Dzhokhar was trailing behind in another car, then told him of his role in the bombings and that he had just killed a police officer in Cambridge, Mass.

They eventually pulled over again, at which time Danny said both suspects loaded bombs in the back of the vehicle. Danny asked CBS News to conceal his identity and alter his voice in the interview. He also detailed the night with the suspects in a dramatic, two-and-a-half hour with the Boston Globe published last week.
