House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) said on Monday that President Barack Obama’s latest declining poll numbers can be partially attributed to the administration’s “abuse of power.”
Cantor was responding to new CNN poll numbers that showed Obama’s approval rating down 8 points since May and found that only 49 percent of respondents thought Obama was honest–a nine point dip from last month.
“I would think it’s troubling for the president in the fact that half the American people now don’t think the president is trustworthy and honest,” Cantor said CNN’s “New Day.” “What they’re witnessing is a Washington and a government that has abused its power and, frankly, has lost focus on the issue that most Americans care about, which is getting people back to work.”
