CA Supreme Court Rules Opponents Of Same-Sex Marriage Can Defend State Ban

In a 72 page ruling, the California Supreme Court on Thursday decided that the sponsors of Proposition 8, the state’s voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage, and other ballot initiatives are entitled to defend those initiatives in court when the state refuses to do so.

The decision is significant as it means the issue will now almost certainly make its way to the Supreme Court.
