Scott Brown is going up with his first ad of the cycle in Massachusetts Wednesday called “Independent,” stressing that the senator is not beholden to any party.

The ad touches on his rough upbringing, and he says in a voiceover, “My whole life has been about beating the odds,” and “there’s absolutely nothing in this world that you can’t get if you work hard at it.” It also includes a clip of Lesley Stahl on CBS’s “60 Minutes” saying Brown has “turned out to be unpredictably independent, and beholden to no one.”

The 30-second ad will begin airing Thursday in the Boston, Springfield, Providence and Albany markets, and on statewide cable, reports Politico.
