First Lady Michelle Obama will be filling in for NBC’s Brian Williams on Friday for a PBS broadcast honoring veterans after the newsman reportedly dropped out.

Williams, who was suspended from his spot at “The Nightly News” in February, backed out of his scheduled hosting duties at the Lincoln Awards because he feared he would be a distraction, the Associated Press reported on Wednesday.

Michelle Obama will be filming a taped introduction to be played at the event instead, according to the AP.

Army newspaper Stars and Stripes in February busted Williams for repeatedly telling a bogus story about being shot down in a helicopter while visiting Iraq in 2003.
