At a press conference Monday evening, Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis stepped back from early official statements about an explosive device going off at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston.

Davis said the incident at the library was caused by either an “incendiary device or a fire” and officials had yet to link it to the explosions that occurred near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

“We haven’t linked [the JFK incident] directly to this incident,” Davis said. “Right now this incident consists of two explosions that occurred on Boylston Street. The information we got about 15 minutes before the prior press conference could very well be premature.”

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident at the library.
