Runners in this year’s Boston Marathon who were stopped on the course after two bombs erupted near the finish line have been invited to participate in next year’s race, the Associated Press reported Thursday.

The Boston Athletic Association announced that runners who crossed the half-way mark on the course but did not cross the finish line will not have to re-qualify in 2014. They will still have to pay an entry fee, however.

According to the Boston Athletic Association, 5,633 runners were on the second half of the course when the bombings caused the race to be stopped.
