House Speaker John Boehner said on the floor of the House Thursday that the White House decision to invoke executive privilege left Republicans no choice but to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress.
“I don’t take this matter likely, and I hoped it would never come to this,” Boehner said. The House, including 15 Democrats, already voted to set the rules for debate on two votes on resolutions finding Holder in contempt.
Holder will address the vote in New Orleans later this afternoon.
