House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) gave brief remarks after a meeting Friday at the White House on the looming automatic spending cuts, telling reporters that new revenue is off the table.

“Let’s make it clear that the President got his tax hikes on Jan. 1,” Boehner said. “This discussion about revenue, in my view, is over. It’s about taking on the spending problem here in Washington.”

Boehner said the House will act on a continuing resolution next week to continue to fund the government. “I’m hopeful we won’t have to deal with the threat of government shutdown while we’re dealing with the sequester at the same time.”
