Fox News host Bill O’Reilly said Thursday night that he thinks Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is afraid to come on his program because of the tough questions he’d face.

O’Reilly made the speculation on his show “The O’Reilly Factor” a day after Paul appeared on rival network MSNBC. The host told his guest and Fox contributor Bernard Goldberg that he thought the appearance was odd because MSNBC is “obviously a network that doesn’t have any use for him.”

Goldberg attempted to provide what he called “educated speculation” about the motivations behind Paul’s appearance. But O’Reilly wasn’t convinced and even gave his own justification for the senator’s actions.

“It doesn’t make any sense to me,” O’Reilly said. “I think he doesn’t want to answer the foreign policy question.”

O’Reilly did however admit he might be wrong and offered an on-air invitation to Paul.

“The chair is waiting for him.”
