Stephen Colbert used his Twitter account on Monday to challenge Bill de Blasio to appear on his Comedy Central program. The New York City mayor’s response: “How about Wednesday?”

After the comedian demanded that de Blasio pay him a visit on the “Colbert Report,” the Democrat suggested a midweek date.

Colbert kept up the faux bravado that typifies his show’s character in a subsequent tweet.

It’s not clear if the booking really went down on Twitter or if the exchange was merely a clever way to promote de Blasio’s appearance. The show’s schedule for the week did not include a guest for Wednesday at the time the tweets were sent.
