Perhaps prescient of the coming vice presidential debate this fall, Vice President Joe Biden on Monday took aim at the controversial budget of Rep. Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney’s newly minted vice presidential running mate.
“What’s gutsy about cutting medicare, medicaid, education,” Biden asked a Durham, North Carolina crowd, “What’s gutsy about giving millionaires tax breaks?”
“Congressman Ryan has given definition to the vague commitments that Romney has made,” Biden added.
Biden described Ryan as a “good, decent man,” but said President Obama and the Wis. congressman had fundamental differences about the direction this country should take.
