Vice President Joe Biden joked on Monday that he will not try to succeed the outgoing pope, CNN reports.
While visiting Philadelphia, the Catholic vice president answered a question on Pope Benedict XVI’s decision to resign his position by saying, “I am not running.”
Biden then answered seriously, saying he admires the Pope for his decision.
“The decision reinforces for me as a practicing Catholic that this is a man of great integrity and looking out for what he believes is in the best interest of our church,” Biden said. “I admire him for it.”
