Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT) has his first major Republican challenger in his 2014 re-election bid from former Montana state Sen. Corey Stapleton, Roll Call reports.
A financial adviser and Naval officer, Stapleton finished second in the Republican gubernatorial primary for 2012. He announced his candidacy in a YouTube video Wednesday called “Why I’m Running,” which focused almost exclusively on the issue of spending and deficits.
