WisPolitics reports:

Tom Barrett accused Scott Walker Tuesday of trying to turn the state against Milwaukee in the guv race.

Appearing before a joint meeting of the Milwaukee Press Club and the Rotary Club, Barrett told the crowd Walker is spreading a message that Wisconsinites should stay away from city tourist attractions, such as Summerfest and the Calatrava-designed Milwaukee Art Museum.

“Do we want to have a governor who is trying to make people afraid of this great city?” he asked.

Barrett also defended his record on job growth in Milwaukee during his tenure as mayor, which mostly coincided with Walker’s years as Milwaukee County exec.
