Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, the Democratic nominee for governor in the Wisconsin recall, said that the race is close because of large amount of outside money coming into the state on Walker’s behalf on CNN Tuesday. On the other hand, Barrett says that given Walker’s cash advantage, it’s remarkable he’s still within striking distance.

“I’ll be outspent in this case six to seven to one, maybe as high as ten to one, which makes it so remarkable this race is so close,” Barrett said. “What’s what happened is Scott Walker is the rock star of the far right and able to raise millions from out of state contributors.”

Barrett says he is confident nonetheless that he will win the recall election because of Democrats’ strong ground game:

“We have just seen over the past week the largest ground game we’ve seen in the state of Wisconsin… We are very, very confident today there are going to be hundreds of thousands of additional voters. That’s what buoys our confidence so much.”
