Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) is making the media rounds in Minnesota, after a judicial panel’s final redistricting map for the state placed her outside of her Congressional district.
Bachmann’s hometown of Stillwater, which was previously near the border of her heavily Republican 6th District, has now been put into the St. Paul-based 4th District of Democratic Rep. Betty McCollum. However, she will nevertheless run for re-election in the 6th, rather than the 4th, and thus avoid a member-vs.-member match in which McCollum would have been heavily favored.
In an interview with the local Fox station in Minneapolis, Bachmann extolled her roots in the 6th District: “Wherever the judges chose to put the heart of that district, however they configured it, I would run in that district,” also describing the district as “where we’ve lived our lives, where our church has been, our children grew up.”
