A new book out next week, and an article based on that book in the New York Times this weekend, depicted the administration as a tense place where the West Wing and the East Wing clashed, and where Michelle Obama irked the President’s top advisors, including an incident where a top advisor cursed the First Lady.
Asked about it on ABC’s This Week, David Axelrod pushed back on the description:
George, you were in the white house. You understand that’s very, every day is a very tense working environment and you have great cogeliaty. I think the first lady and her staff worked very well. When I was there with the west wing. She’s a sensational person. And highly regarded by everybody who works [there].
