The Justice Department said Tuesday that any agreement they reach with Sheriff Joe Arpaio must include a monitor to make sure the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office isn’t violating the civil rights of Latinos. Here’s how Arpaio’s office responded:

 

Arpaio cancelled the first negotiation meeting on March 1 because he was giving a press conference about the legitimacy of President Barack Obama’s birth certificate.
