The Arkansas state House on Wednesday voted to override Democratic Gov. Mike Beebe’s veto of a bill banning abortion at 12-weeks of pregnancy, meaning Arkansas now has the nation’s most restrictive abortion ban, the Associated Press reported. The state Senate voted to override the veto on Tuesday. The law won’t take effect until this summer.

The ACLU in Arkansas has promised to challenge the law in court.

“Our legislature has turned its back on the women of Arkansas by enacting this outrageous ban,” Rita Sklar, executive director of the ACLU of Arkansas, said in a statement after the House vote. “We will fight this law in court to ensure that politicians cannot deny women the ability to make their own decisions about their own health.”
