Former Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) continues to lead the polling in Michigan as the ad wars are in full swing. Santorum gets 37 percent in a new American Research Group poll, while former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney gets 32, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich sees 15, and Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) finishes with ten. The primary will be held February 28th.

The question going forward is whether Santorum can withdstand the inevitable barage of negative ads from the Romney camgain its supporting super PACs, as happened to Gingrich after his win in the South Carolina primary. Thus far Santorum is being outspent three to one in the state.

The current TPM Poll Average shows Santorum with 5.7 percent lead in the Michigan Republican primary.
