New numbers from American Research Group show former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney up seven points in Arizona, a winner-take-all state in the Republican presidential primary. Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum is second with 31 percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich gets 15 and Rep. Ron Paul sees 10.
The data shows that Arizona is one state where Romney is still competing for the all-important conservative vote, which has been the most fickle voting bloc within the GOP this cycle. “Romney leads with 41% among likely Republican primary voters saying they are supporters of the Tea Party, followed by Santorum with 34%, Gingrich with 10%, and Paul with 7%,” ARG wrote in its analyis.
