The Apple and Samsung have concluded a marathon series of settlement talks in San Francisco over their expensive ongoing global tablet and smartphone patent war, patents blogger Florian Mueller reported on FOSS Patents.
The outcome of the case has yet to be made official by the district court judge presiding over the talks, but a filing is expected soon. But for those thinking that there will soon be legal peace between the two giant electronics competitors (who are also manufacturing allies, in a bit of bitter irony), think again: A Samsung official has already told the Korea Times on Wednesday that no settlement was reached, meaning that there will be more legal dogfighting ahead between Samsung and Apple, with a San Francisco trial starting in July.

According to foreign media outlets, both technology giants held firm on their assertions: Samsung continued to demand Apple pay royalties for using its wireless transmission technology and Apple insisted that Samsung copied its design in various products.
The two companies have sued and counter-sued each other in over 50 separate lawsuits in 10 countries, mainly over the alleged patent-infringement of their signature mobile devices, including the Samsung Galaxy line of tablets and smartphones, and Apples iPad and iPhone. Apple’s role in the fight is also in some ways a proxy war on Android, the Google-made operating system that runs on many of Samsung’s signature devices and which late Apple CEO pledged to go to “thermonuclear war” over.
