Apple CEO Tim Cook and Samsung CEO Geesung Choi have agreed to discuss a potential settlement between their respective companies, FOSS Patents reports, citing a court hearing in San Jose, California earlier Tuesday.
The talks must commence within 90 days.
A settlement could put an end to a costly ongoing intercontinental smartphone patent war that’s raged between the two companies over the past few years, and allow customers across the globe the ability to access all of Samsung and Apple’s mobile offerings without fear of a court order preventing them from being sold.
The dispute is also notable due to the fact that Samsung manufactures the internal components of some of Apple’s most popular products, including the iPad and iPhone.
