Appeals Court Upholds Decision To Strike Down NYC Large Soda Ban

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s plan to combat the obesity epidemic by banning large sugary drinks from restaurants and other places is an illegal overreach of executive power, a state appeals court unanimously ruled Tuesday, upholding a lower court’s March decision that struck down the law, according to Reuters.

The law would have banned businesses from selling sodas and other sugary drinks larger than 16 ounces.
