A new national poll from the Associated Press shows President Obama ahead of former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney, Texas Gov. Rick Perry and businessman Herman Cain. But it also shows Romney with a healthy uptick in his favorability among Americans.

Obama bests Romney 48 – 45, Perry 51 – 42, and Cain 49 – 43. Romney’s favorability rating, which was underwater at 39 – 41 two months ago, has risen to 49 – 37, which is the highest of the GOP field among the general sample. Cain is also liked, but less well known.
