A conservative Iranian lawmaker claims that President Obama sent a secret letter proposing direct talks with Iranian leadership, the Associated Press reports. The semiofficial Fars news agency reported the content of the letter.

An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson confirmed to the AP that it had received the letter. The White House did not directly refute the claim of the letter, but said it has a number of ways to communicate with Iran.
