Ann Romney’s dressage horse Rafalca and trainer Jan Ebeling will compete in the Olympics in London this summer after earning a spot on the U.S. Olympic Equestrian team Saturday, reports the LA Times.
In Dressage, the rider guides the horse through a series of actions such as prancing, hopping and zigzagging. Though it can look effortless, the sport requires intense training. An article on Dressage-news.com said Ebeling had “the best performance of his life.” Rafalca and Ebeling placed third.
Romney uses riding as part of her treatment for multiple sclerosis, which she has been living with for many years. Romney co-owns Rafalca along with Ebeling and another woman.
Ann Romney tweeted about the news Saturday afternoon:
It’s great to be part of the Olympics again. We are so proud of Jan and Team USA. Now let’s bring home the gold! twitter.com/AnnDRomney/sta…
