The conservative group Americans for Prosperity has a new $400,000 statewide TV ad buy in the Wisconsin Senate race — seeking to leverage Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s recall victory, and use it to defeat Democratic Rep. Tammy Baldwin in the Senate race in November.

There is currently a four-way Republican primary between former Gov. Tommy Thompson, former Rep. Mark Neumann, state Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald and businessman Eric Hovde. The primary will be held on Aug. 14.

The ad opens with an image of the protests against Walker last year — followed by photos of the same area, empty and quiet.

“After a year of struggle, Wisconsin has a message for politicians in Washington,” the announcer says. “Stop the wasteful spending that’s bankrupting our future; balance the budget; protect hard-working taxpayers. But instead of protecting us, Tammy Baldwin supports Nancy Pelosi’s agenda 93 percent of the time. Baldwin’s votes for trillions in wasteful spending are part of the problem. It’s a new day in Wisconsin — and Wisconsin is moving forward. Tell Tammy Baldwin: Hard-working taxpayers can’t afford more wasteful spending.”
