The super PAC American Crossroads is placing $40 million in airtime across for the fall, reports National Journal. The buys are meant for the presidential race though some will probably go to Senate races. American Crossroads began placing the buys at the same time its sister organization, the non-profit Crossroads GPS — which does not have to disclose its donors — announced a $25 million ad campaign against President Obama this month.

National Journal has some of the breakdown:

Between September 4 and November 5, American Crossroads has purchased more than $10 million in advertising in Florida; more than $7 million in Ohio; nearly as much in Virginia; more than $3 million in Colorado; $4 million in North Carolina; $3 million in Iowa; and more than $2 million each in New Hampshire and Nevada, the group will announce today.

Combined, the Crossroads groups have now spent about $90 million. The group intends to raise $300 million this election cycle.
