Rep. Todd Akin is uncomfortable with the idea that “party bosses” would dictate who would be the Republican Senate nominee in Missouri rather than the person selected by voters in the primary, he told ABC’s “Good Morning America” Wednesday, the day after he bucked the wishes of GOP leaders and decided to stay in the race.
“The people of Missouri chose me to be there candidate,” Akin said. “I don’t think it’s right for party bosses to override” the voters.
Akin reiterated his point several times. It “makes me uncomfortable that party bosses are going to dictate who runs,” he said.
