Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD), who joined nine other senators in voting for a resolution authorizing military force in Syria last week, indicated Monday that due to reservations about further action he prefers a diplomatic solution at this time.

“I voted yes in the committee but I have concerns about action, right now we need to deal with #Syria via diplomacy if possible,” Cardin said in a message posted to Twitter.

Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D), who also represents Maryland and who was opposed to authorizing force in Iraq during the Bush presidency, announced earlier Monday she supports a limited military strike in Syria in response to a reported chemical weapons attack by the Assad regime last month.
