Afghan President Hamid Karzai has indicated that he may move national elections forward form 2014 to 2013. NATO troops are scheduled to begin withdrawing in 2014 and Karzai has expressed some caution about having elections take place during the same year. Karzai suggested the election rescheduling during a visit from NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, who affirmed that NATO’s planned 2014 draw down was going forward as planned.
