The liberal Majority PAC hammered Tommy Thompson on his statement about Medicare and Medicaid to a conservative group in June, in an ad Tuesday for the Wisconsin Senate race.
A video published last week showed Thompson in June, while he was in a heated Republican primary, touting his support for the Republican plan to privatize Medicare into an insurance voucher system: “Who better than me, who’s already finished one of the entitlement programs [welfare], to come up with programs to do away with Medicaid and Medicare?”
“So who said Thompson’s going to get rid of Medicare?” the announcer says in the new ad. “Thompson did,” followed by a slightly edited Thompson clip: “Who better than me…to do away with Medicaid and Medicare?”
