ACLU Seeking Organization Of American States Probe Of Padilla Case

The ACLU on Tuesday will ask the Organization of American States’ human rights arm to investigate the U.S. government’s handling of the Jose Padilla case, alleging the American citizen labeled an “enemy combatant” was tortured, the Associated Press reported

Jamil Dakwar, the ACLU’s human rights program director, said this will be the first-ever petition to be filed to the OAS commission by an American citizen against the U.S. government alleging torture and abuse.
