Forget “Jersey Shore.” MTV knows where the real action in the tristate area is, which is why the company has apparently issued a casting call for “Real Word: Zuccotti Park.”

According to a Craigslist ad posted on Monday night, MTV’s seminal series about the (oft-drunken) misdaventures of young 20-somethings in ______ (insert urban setting of your choice here) is seeking members of the 99 percent to participate in a forthcoming season. (H/T: New York Observer.)

The ad reads:

MTV’s Real World is seeking cast members to tell their unique stories on our show. If you are over the age of 20 and appear to be between the ages of 20-24, and the description below sounds like you, we want to hear from you!

Are you a part of the OCCUPY WALL STREET movement?

If so, please contact realworldcasting@bunim-murray.com. Your subject heading should be YOUR NAME and WALL STREET.

Please attach 3 RECENT PHOTOS and a brief BIO, including your full NAME, DATE OF BIRTH (for ID purposes only) as well as your CONTACT INFORMATION including PHONE #.

Considering the Occupy protesters’ generally acrimonious relationship with mainstream, corporatist media outlets like MTV’s parent Viacom, it’s tough to imagine that many Occupiers (Occupants?) will bite on this particular opportunity to publicize their cause.

But who knows? Given the dire economic situations that brought many of the protesters to the encampment in the first place, maybe some will take MTV up on the offer.

Still unclear is whether the participants of the new Real World will forgo the traditional fancy group home in favor of the open-air encampment of Zuccotti.

It’s worth noting, though, that MTV on Friday posted another Craigslist casting call for “Real World 27” in the Chicago local ads section of its sprawling website.

MTV has covered the protest on its own website as well, namely when musicians Talib Kweli and Kanye West showed up at New York’s Zuccotti Park.

TPM has contacted MTV and Occupy Wall Street’s press representatives for further information on this Real World development and will update when we receive a response.
