Here are ten things you need to know today.

  • Romney and Santorum neck-and-neck in Arizona: A new survey from Public Policy Polling shows Mitt Romney with a razor-thin lead over Rick Santorum in Arizona 36% to 33%. The state’s primary is a week away.
  • Romney raised $6.4 million in January: Mitt Romney raised $6.4 million in January and has $7.7 million cash on hand, his campaign reports. Overall, Romney’s campaign has raised almost $64 million. It’s more than the other GOP nominees, but about half what Romney raised in December 2011.
  • Romney camp went on January spending spree: Mitt Romney’s campaign spent $18.7 million in January, three times the $6.4 million in brought in. Romney began January with $19.9 million cash on hand, a lot more than the $7.7 he had at the beginning of February.
  • Santorum raised $4.5 million in January: Rick Santorum brought in $4.5 million in January and entered February with $1.5 million cash on hand. His campaign is also $957,000 in debt, according to FEC filings. Considering Santorum began January with about $280,000 cash on hand, this is a big improvement.
  • Gingrich raised $5.6 million in January: Newt Gingrich raised almost as much as Mitt Romney in January: $5.6 million. He has $1.8 million cash on hand, but is also $1.7 million in debt.
  • Ron Paul pulled in $4.5 million in January: Ron Paul had an impressive fundraising month, particularly since he hasn’t won a primary contest yet. His campaign brought in $4.48 million in January, has $1.46 million cash on hand, and no debt.
  • Romney Super PAC has way more money than Obama’s: The super PAC supporting Romney, Restore Our Future, spent $13.9 million in January primarily criticizing Romney’s opponents, raised $6.6 million, and has $16 million cash on hand. Pro-Obama Super PAC Priorities USA Action raised a meager $59,000 in January.
  • Democrats go after Romney in Arizona: DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Rep. Xavier Becerra, and Arizona state Rep. Ruben Gallego will hold a press call Monday to attack Romney in Arizona. As they put it, “highlighting the differences between Romney and Arizonans.
  • Romney holds campaign event in Michigan: Mitt Romney will hold a townhall meeting in Shelby Township, Michigan, Tuesday. Ann Romney will attend a meet and greet in Battle Creek Monday morning and a Lincoln Day luncheon in Hudsonville, Michigan.
  • Gingrich will campaign in Washington at end of the week: Newt and Callista Gingrich will head up to Washington State to campaign Thursday and Friday. Washington’s caucuses are Saturday, March 3.
