Ellie the Elephant is here to show our children just how exceptional their country really is. In “Sweet Land of Liberty,” Callista Gingrich’s latest children’s book, Ellie learns about American history by traveling through time to relive some of our nations greatest historical moments.

Obviously, the Boston Tea Party is one such event.

The book is filled with American symbols as well; an eagle appears on each page, for example. “We think these symbols belong to all Americans and want children to feel proud of this heritage,” Callista Gingrich told The Daily Caller. “We think these symbols belong to all Americans and want children to feel proud of this heritage.”

The author has denied deliberately choosing an elephant as a symbolic act, saying “It is not a ‘Republican’ book or a ‘conservative’ book. It is a pro-America book.” In a Publisher’s Weekly article about the project, illustrator Susan Arciero plainly states “Callista Gingrich came up with the idea for Ellie the elephant.”

Gingrich Productions, one of the private companies owned by former Speaker of the House and current GOP candidate Newt Gingrich has just released a video advertising the book.

“In my new book, ‘Sweet Land of Liberty,’ Ellis travels through time to discover what makes America special,” Callista Gingrich says while perched next to someone dressed in an elephant costume. “I encourage you to read this book with your children, so they too can understand that America is truly an exceptional nation.”
