At Wednesday’s Republican Jewish Coalition forum, the GOP candidates practically lined up to bash President Obama’s foreign policy, insinuating with various levels of subtlety that it amounted to appeasement.
A reporter asked President Obama for his reaction to that at this morning’s press conference, and Obama had some fighting words:
“Ask Osama bin Laden and the 22 out of 30 top Al-Qaeda leaders who have been taken off the field whether I engage in appeasement… or whoever’s left out there.”
Here’s the video:
Democrats don’t look like they’re going to be shy about touting Obama’s actually rather muscular foreign policy during the general election. The Republican approach of trying to make Obama look like a second Jimmy Carter rather hit the ropes after Obama’s double-whammy of taking out both bin Laden and Muommar Qaddafi.
Militarily inclined Democrats had already started touting Obama’s chops on this matter, but the president had so far been somewhat reticent about drawing attention to it himself. No more, it seems.
