Rick Perry has picked up the endorsement of another fellow Republican governor: Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval

Sandoval announced his support forPerry in a statement late Tuesday, just a day after another governor, Louisiana’s Bobby Jindal, also endorsed Perry:

Our nation needs a leader in the White House who understands the role of government and our economy. Governor Rick Perry has the strongest record of job creation, fiscal discipline, and executive branch leadership among the presidential candidates. As a governor, Rick Perry created a tremendous blueprint for job creation and as President, I know he will get America working again. I consider Governor Perry a friend and I am proud to endorse his campaign for President.

Sandoval is also prominent as a Republican politician of Latino background, and could potentially help Perry’s campaign outreach to that demographic of voters, in addition to Perry’s relatively pragmatic approach to immigration issues at Monday’s Republican debate.

Sandoval was elected in 2010, after serving as a federal judge and state attorney general. He stepped down from the federal bench in order to challenge scandal-plagued Gov. Jim Gibbons in the Republican primary, and defeated Gibbons by a two-to-one margin. In the general election, he won a 12-point victory over Democratic nominee Rory Reid, son of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, at the same time as the elder Reid won by six points over heavily flawed GOP Senate nominee Sharron Angle.
