Jon Stewart took Herman Cain’s exit from the Republican presidential race pretty hard. Could political comedy ever bring Stewart joy again, he wondered.
But “sometimes when God closes a door, he opens a window,” Stewart said. And that window is a GOP debate moderated by Donald Trump.
“Thank you, Jesus,” Stewart said. “Here’s how you know it’s gonna be great! Regular Republicans, the ones we used to hate, are downright scared.”
Stewart was giddy over a phone interview on MSNBC earlier this week, where Trump hammered Chuck Todd over who called whom to set up the interview. “Trump can never, ever, ever let shit slide,” Stewart said. “That is this guy in a nutshell.”
And even better, Trump said recently that if a candidate he doesn’t favor gets the Republican nomination, Trump will jump into the race himself.
