While President Obama continues to “evolve” when it comes to supporting gay marriage, one of his potential rivals for the White House said Tuesday he just might be open to an evolution of his own when it comes to his believe that people are gay because they choose to be.

Back in June, Cain told CBS News he thought homosexuality is a “sin” and a “choice.” Speaking with the hosts of The View today, Cain said he still believes the choice stuff — but his mind is open to chance.

From The Hill‘s Justin Sink, who reported on Cain’s View appearance:

The women of The View also peppered Cain with questions about his stance on social and women’s issues. Asked if he believed that homosexuality was a choice, Cain affirmed that he did, but said that he could be open to persuasion on the issue.

“You show me the science that it’s not [a choice] and I could be persuaded,” Cain said. “But right now it’s just my belief and your belief.”

Cain is more direct about the subject than Mitt Romney, who dodged questions about his views on homosexuality and sin in a June interview with CNN.
