Stephen Colbert was really impressed with Herman Cain’s new web video, showing his chief of staff smoking a cigarette and talking about taking the country back.

“Cain is a true rebel,” Colbert said Tuesday. “I was so inspired by the way Herman Cain’s ad sticks it to the East and West Coast elites, that I’ve made some Herman Cain ads of mine [sic] own.”

The best part of Cain’s new video, Colbert said, is not even the smoking, but the eight seconds it takes Cain to crack a smile at the end. “I can understand why Cain is smiling,” Colbert added. “Just listen to the song Cain is rocking to.”

The refrain of the song repeats the lyrics “I am America,” which happens to be the title of Colbert book.

“Well, Hermie, I’m flattered,” Colbert said. “Because clearly Cain is basing a lot of his campaign on my book, in that his campaign is mostly about selling his book.”
