Welcome to the new TPM, our first full site redesign in four-and-a-half years. We’ve been running the design in beta for the last two weeks and about a quarter of our readers have already switched over to the new design. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. But this evening we’re bringing the design live to our entire audience. So we’re very eager to hear your reaction, your comments, critiques, all the insights you can give us about the design. Your feedback on design, aesthetics, user experience and especially anything that seems broken on your browser is critical to a successful launch.

Now, a few points. First, what were we thinking? Here’s a video we did last week explaining where things are in the redesign and how some of the new sections work. More generally, this post explains more about what we are trying to achieve with the new design.

While the design was in beta, we worked with readers optimizing the design for the dozens of combinations of browsers and operating systems that exist out there. And with such a large test group and readers so helpfully reporting problems, we’re pretty confident we’ve got most issues run to ground. But with all our readers joining tonight we’re sure we’ll find some more issues. So if something seems off about the design, we particularly want to hear from you. First off, here’s what the site is supposed to look like. If something doesn’t look like that, we really want to hear from you. If so, please go to our site status blog where we have a quick and easy form for you to fill out, which helps us narrow down which browser your using and stuff like that.

So take a look. And we’re eager for your feedback.
