There’s still a long way to go this evening, but the Senate results so far could not have lined up any better for Democrats. Already they’ve picked up three Republican seats: Lugar’s in Indiana, Brown’s in Massachusetts, and Snowe’s in Maine.
So Republicans need to flip three Democratic seats just to keep things even. Then they need another three to erase the existing Democratic advantage (and even then they’re only tied — unless there’s a Vice President Ryan).
It’s not mathematically impossible to find six seats left on the map tonight, but it’s practically very, very difficult. And Claire McCaskill just held on to her seat in Missouri …
