TPM Reader SB is pretty down on both of them …

The thing that stings me most about the primary is that Hillary Clinton is not a very good candidate. She plays well in the controlled atmosphere of a debate, yes, but so did Martha Coakley. I feel very strongly that she’s going to lose the general and, despite all evidence being that sanders supporters will fall in line, the left will be blamed for her total inability to run a competent campaign.

This is a candidate who lost in 2008 partly because she didn’t bother to learn caucus rules and then still did not learn them over the intervening eight years. It absolutely could have cost her the primary against a guy who, if we’re being 100% honest, probably doesn’t belong on the national stage.

Her campaign is bumbling and useless and her main asset, the full-time support of the (second?) most popular living president of the modern age, has almost immediately become a liability due to the campaign’s inability to handle him properly.

It’s amateur hour in the democratic party, partly concealed by just how over the top ridiculous the opposition is. It’s entirely probable that Trump’s fundamental assholeishness will keep him from the presidency, but it’s his to lose.
